Baby Water Awareness

Parent in water
We require one parent in the water with the child and we educate the parent to teach the child. The parent is required to wear a T-shirt.

baby 1
(6 per class)

Babies 5 months - 16 months
Our aim is to teach children to pull up independently on an adults t-shirt, fingers or side of the pool, with the ultimate goal of having the child climb out of the pool.

baby 2
(6 per class)

Babies 16 months - 2.5 years
The lesson is incorporating positive reinforcement with aspects of further independence of each swimmer – circuits will be introduced in these lessons enabling stimulation, movement and laughter within the aquatic lesson.  Repetition is the key element to the lesson in learning tasks given.

Toddler Water Confidence

stepping stone

tadpoles

Tadpoles is the next level where the student learns further skills using the kickboard for progressive skills to get them acquainted with the Level 2 program.

Swim Levels

level 1
(max 3 per class)

Water Confidence | Buoyancy
The aim of this level is to create water confidence with fun. A lot of understanding and patience is needed at this level and we ask for parents to be positive towards all aspects of what we are trying to deal with.

level 2
(max 4 per class)

Breathing | Big Arms | Freestyle | Backstroke
Introduce the pupil to the elementary actions of freestyle and backstroke kick. Introduction to water safety skills. This level is a challenge to the swimmer and the teacher because they are trying so hard to remember everything.

level 3
(max 4 per class)

Co-ordinating Freestyle & Backstroke Skills
The level to co-ordinate kicking, breathing and the arm movement. With the younger age groups patience and understanding is needed due to their undeveloped motor skills but with persistence the child can be given a “good” habit in a very repetitive process.

high level 3
(max 4 per class)

Independent Freestyle & Backstroke | Butterfly Arms
This level is to gain more independence. Kicking correctly at this level is an important step. Independent backstroke is developed and butterfly arms are now introduced.

level 4
(max 6 per class)

Improving Stroke Action
The pupils are to become independent of the teacher with an emphasis on continual action. This is a time for stroke action to be improved the streamlining to be refined and the development of mental attitude that is expected at this level.

low level 5
(max 6 per class)

Quality Stroke and Kick Action | Breaststroke
The pupils use the full length of the pool. They are coming from level 4 and should be able to swim 20 meters freestyle catch-up and backstroke without stopping and elementary butterfly. In this level the catch-up drill is to be eliminated as the main form of swimming.

level 5
(max 6 per class)

Lap Swimming in All Four Strokes | Dives | Turns
Drills on all 4 strokes are now given to challenge the swimmer to combine a different kick with another arm action. Endurance is now building up and correction of all strokes is important.

level 6
(max 10 per class)

Introduction of Multiple Laps
The main emphasis in this level is to teach technique in each stroke and to build up the endurance ability of the swimmer. Correction of the strokes takes place.

level 7

Multiple Laps
Extending Aerobic fitness and giving stroke correction.

Swim Factory Swim Team

Mini Squad Changes (Level 6 & Level 7)

From 20th August 2011, we prepose to restructure our Level 6 & 7 into a group called “Swim Factory Swim Team”.

The idea is that we give them their own identity with their own team T Shirts. We are going to set goals for them to achieve to keep encouraging them to continue their swim.

An example is they swim a distance of 500m or 1km and they will receive a badge to be attached to their T Shirt. Other prize incentives will be given over the time.

There will be a time change to accommodate these changes, please see below:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 5.00pm – 5.45pm
  • Friday 4.30pm – 5.15pm
  • Saturday 7.15am – 8.00am

We are going to accommodate siblings to be able to come at a similar time, please talk to the office to discuss these changes.
*Please bring an exercise book to be used as a log book.
